Welcome
We are at an exciting time in the life of the College providing expertise and support to our partners in the areas of Maths, Science, ICT and Design Technology. The objective of being a Specialist College has been to work with all members of the school’s community to encourage them to develop and share new and effective teaching and learning practice, and to raise standards and levels of achievement.
Part of the brief is to encourage and promote networking and partnership between schools and the community which in turn helps to raise standards and levels of achievement, allowing every student to achieve their full potential.
It is also our desire to extend links with local companies and organisations in order to extend our support for the wider community.
We are partners with five local Middle schools and one primary school in addition to being a partner in the extended school ‘Living and Learning Project’ in the town.
The ‘Specialist’ funding has enabled us to provide modern technologies to the whole school and in the past two years we have installed 23 interactive boards, refitted a Design and Technology classroom and provided funding for replacing suites of computers across the school.
First launched in September 1992, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust has a membership of over 3100 schools educating over 1 million children in England and Wales. Being an Affiliated member of the Trust since 2003 provides Queensbury with multiple opportunities to draw from high quality teaching and learning in the secondary system.
