Queensbury School's Policy on Facial Piercings
Until now, the rule printed in every student’s planner, “Students may wear two simple ear studs, not hoops, one in each ear. No Facial Piercings.” has been widely understood to include any piercings other than those described. This term, a small number of students have had other piercings, including tongue bars. Most of these students have complied with the rules when they and their parents have been reminded. However, a very small number of students have persistently defied the rules and, in one case, this has resulted in permanent exclusion from Queensbury.

I must, therefore, make it explicit that, as it states in the uniform policy and is printed in every student planner, no piercings other than two simple ear studs are allowed. This includes eyebrows, noses, lips, tongues and any other part of the face, head and neck. It also includes any item of jewellery other than two simple ear studs.

There will be no exceptions to this rule irrespective of how much the piercing cost, how recently it was done and how long it will take before the wound heals. A student wearing an inappropriate piercing will be asked to remove the piercing. If they refuse then they will be removed from lessons and set work in isolation. Parents will be informed and asked to have the piercing removed before the student returns to school. If the student does not comply then the student will be excluded for a fixed term. If the defiance persists the student will be permanently excluded from Queensbury.
